Maya was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and raised on Oʻahu, where her upbringing was shaped by local island culture and her Japanese, and Hawaiian heritage. She began modeling at 15 after being scouted on Instagram by her mother agent, later working locally in Hawaiʻi before entering the New York City market at 18. A major career milestone was closing Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2021 “Happiness” collection in New York. Since then, Maya has worked with brands including Versace, Poolside Paradiso, and Stone Fox Swim, and has appeared in campaigns for Bergdorf Goodman as well as editorials for i-D Magazine and Display Copy. Outside of modeling, Maya is studying Business with a minor in Psychology and spends most of her time surfing, diving, hiking, and exploring her interests in wellness, Ayurveda, and neuroplasticity.
